Cloud Busting II

Cloudbusting II

Acrylic on canvas / 100 x 100 cm

Where Cloudbusting I captures light breaking through, Cloudbusting II lingers in the moment just before - a sky heavy with anticipation, soft and brooding over Swanpool Lake.

Drawn from memory and mood, this painting explores the weight and wonder of overcast skies-the kind that quieten the world and hold everything in suspense.

I used long-bristled brushes and slow, circular gestures to shape the composition, allowing layers of paint to settle and drift like the clouds they evoke. Each mark is a response, not to what I saw, but to what I felt.

Cloudbusting 2 invites the viewer to pause in that stillness-to recognise the beauty in the build-up, not just the breakthrough.
