Pulling Down the Clouds
Original Abstract Landscape Painting | Acrylic on Canvas | 100 × 120 cm
£1,950
Inspired by the ever-changing skies above Swanpool Lake in Falmouth, Cornwall, Pulling Down the Clouds captures the movement, light and atmosphere of the Cornish coastline.
Layers of shifting blues, soft whites and glimpses of distant sea create an expansive, impressionistic landscape. Painted intuitively with long, sweeping brushstrokes, the colours build and overlap, revealing new details the longer you look.
The title takes inspiration from Kate Bush's Cloudbusting and the feeling of trying to hold on to something fleeting — a particular light, a passing cloud, a moment that stays with you long after it's gone.
There's a sense of movement and stillness in this painting. It changes with the light throughout the day, offering something different each time you return to it.
I hope this piece offers room to breathe — and that in its open sky, you find your own weather.
